Website design & development for an antiques online store
The Brief
Garden Artefacts is an antique business that specialises in selling antique and vintage garden related objects, both online and at antique fairs. They were in need of an online shop and website that would allow them to sell their products to a global market in between exhibiting at antique fairs.
Graham the founder asked me to design and create a logo and brand for the business and not being very tech savvy he wanted the site to be built on a platform that would be easy for him to manage and update. He was also looking for guidance and advice on product photography and managing an online store.
The Result
The site is built on Shopify, one of the best platforms for e-commerce websites, it has a very user-friendly CMS which was of great relief to the client. I focused the homepage design on large slideshow images of their most beautiful pieces which can be easily changed by them as new stock comes in. I also incorporated a new arrivals section prominently on the homepage as their pieces change frequently.
I customised the shipping profiles to allow international buyers to purchase with additional information about shipping quotes to their locations and advised and assisted Graham the owner on how best to photograph and edit his product shot for the web. I provided Graham with full training on how to run and manage an online store in addition to assisting him in purchasing and setting up domain names and email address for the business.
